Job Description
Location: Onsite at 7900 Fannin St. Ste. 1500, Houston, TX 77054
Under the direct supervision of the Imaging Management, the Dual-Modality Women’s Imaging Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic imaging, specializing in breast and GYN ultrasound. This role supports physicians in breast health and gynecological care by operating specialized equipment, capturing optimal diagnostic images, and ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity in compliance with medical ethics and strict regulatory protocols.
Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations
This role supports physicians in diagnosing and monitoring conditions related to breast and gynecological health.
The technologist ensures patient safety, comfort, and dignity while adhering to established protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
Perform gynecologic ultrasounds (transabdominal and transvaginal) to evaluate pelvic structures, ovaries, uterus, and endometrium
Perform breast ultrasounds to evaluate breast and ancillary structures
Capture high-quality diagnostic images and cine loops per physician order and protocol
Identify, measure, and document pathology
Provide preliminary impressions to physicians while avoiding independent diagnosis
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Patient Care
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring understanding and comfort
Maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor with patients who may be anxious or in distress
Protect patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
Assist patients in positioning and provide physical support when necessary
Technical & Safety
Operate ultrasound equipment, ensuring calibration, functionality, and cleanliness
Select appropriate transducers, settings, and scanning techniques based on examination needs
Follow infection control protocols, including proper cleaning and disinfecting of probes
Recognize equipment malfunctions and report promptly for maintenance
Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers
Communicate critical or urgent findings immediately to the physician
Assist in training new technologists, or ultrasound students as needed
Qualifications
ARDMS certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) required; Breast and/or Abdomen is a plus
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Proficiency in Breast, GYN, and Routine exams.
Strong knowledge of breast, pelvic and abdominal anatomy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting
Strong attention to detail and image quality
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination; requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time; occasionally lifts and carries times weighing up to 50 pounds; requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range; requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in Breast and GYN ultrasound; new graduates with strong clinical training may be considered.
