Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II is responsible for assisting in the performance of invasive testing and interventional procedures used in the detection and treatment of the heart and circulatory system within Cardiac Catheter, CTO, and Structural Heart procedure rooms. The incumbent must be proficient in the functions of Monitoring, Circulating, and Scrubbing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist physicians and nursing staff in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, coronary interventions, and structural heart procedures
• Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning, draping, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure
• Perform scrubbing duties, including sterilization of instruments, equipment setup, and maintenance of sterile field during procedures
• Monitor and circulate during procedures, ensuring availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments
• Operate and maintain cardiac catheterization laboratory equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring systems, imaging equipment, and procedural devices
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of procedures, including patient records, equipment usage, and procedural outcomes
• Implement and maintain strict infection control protocols and sterile technique standards in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth procedure flow and optimal patient outcomes
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist with emergency procedures as needed
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality assurance checks to ensure proper functioning of all laboratory equipment

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited program in Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent academic program and experience.)

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI).
• Valid BCLS certification required/ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
