Position Purpose
Under the direction of a licensed medical provider, the Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinical operations.
Job Responsibilities

Perform patient interviews and obtain relevant health information

Prepare patients for provider care and examinations

Measure vital signs; observe, report, and document patient signs and symptoms in the medical record

Prepare and maintain treatment rooms for patient examinations

Provide basic first aid as needed

Perform basic laboratory procedures and/or collect routine laboratory specimens within scope of practice

Assist patients with ambulation and the use of assistive devices

Participate in individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team

Maintain complete, accurate, and timely patient records

Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with healthcare regulations

Adhere to infection control standards, hospital policies, and departmental procedures

Monitor equipment functionality and assist with inventory management

Adapt to change and support workplace initiatives in a positive and professional manner

Work irregular or extended hours as required

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed

Perform other duties as assigned
Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
Licenses/Certifications

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
Experience

One (1) year of clinical experience strongly preferred
Work Conditions
This position regularly involves exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens and direct patient contact in a variety of situations. The role may include exposure to unpleasant elements such as injuries, illness, and chemicals. Candidates must be able to manage emergency, crisis, or high-pressure situations, handle frequent interruptions, and work varying or irregular hours. Sound judgment is required, as actions may directly impact patient outcomes.
