Certified Medical Assistant - Wellness Center

High Desert Medical Group is seeking a full time Certified Medical Assistant to work in our Senior Wellness Center. Candidate will be responsible for vital signs, EKGs, spirometry, Dexa Scan, Quantaflow screening, blood draws, injections, patient education, assisting providers with procedures, following clinical guidelines, and rooming and discharging patients. The individual will be cross trained in both front and back-office processes including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying eligibility. Ability to travel to local provider offices in the Antelope Valley required. 

Summary of Duties: 

• Assist patients to exam rooms and obtain complete and accurate vital signs.
• Obtain and document all pertinent information in patient's charts.
• Anticipate, assist, and perform procedures ordered by the provider.
• Maintain timely patient flow and room availability.
• Maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
• Reinforce patient education and participate in patient teaching.
• Stock and maintain exam rooms, nursing stations, and individual workstations.
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
• Perform other duties assigned. 

Position hours are: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $24.09 and $32.14/hr, non-exempt; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• National or California state certification in Medical Assisting
• Current BLS certification.
• One year experience in a physician office or clinic preferred. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle and prioritize tasks in order to meet all given deadlines and productivity goals.
• Ability to responsibly handle matters of a confidential nature.
• Ability to work in a multi-task, high demand environment.

Additional skills required:

Reliable, detail focused, accurate, organized, ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines, excellent written and verbal communication skills and medical terminology experience. One year of health care experience preferred. Spanish bilingual level 2 preferred.
