DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in preparation of clinic area/exam rooms.
- Assists with patient intake and discharge.
- Measures vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight.
- Assists in transporting/directing patients to clinic areas.
- Assists providers and other staff members with patient care procedures.
- Collects specimens as directed.
- Documents in the medical record as required.
- Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies.
- Participates/attends educational programs.
- Assists with maintaining patient records.
- Contacts patients/families as directed by providers or licensed nurses.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Assists with referral tracking.
- Assists with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC’s corporate compliance program.
- Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC’s policy and current HIPAA regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Current training completion certificate as a Medical Assistant required.
- Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Ability to administer injections
- Excellent customer service skills both in-person and on the telephone.
- Priority setting skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Requires moderate to high amount of working, standing, lifting and repetitive tasks.
- Potential exists for exposure to hazardous risks including infectious diseases, hazardous substances and musculoskeletal injuries.
- Work is performed in an interior, medical office setting.
- Nursing units are well-lit, ventilated and meet safety standards.
