Construction Materials Laboratory Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

• Retrieve and transport soil and/or concrete samples from project sites and branch offices to our laboratory facility in Alpha, NJ;
• Support construction materials laboratory operations, including sample preparation, general laboratory upkeep and organization, and documentation of test results for engineers and project managers;
• Monitor concrete sample curing conditions and maintain testing schedules;
• Operate laboratory equipment used for compression testing and materials preparation;
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, testing logs, and documentation;
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace and assist with routine maintenance of testing equipment;
• Follow established safety procedures and company standards during all laboratory and field activities;
• Perform field testing of construction materials (soils, concrete, and steel) on an occasional as-needed basis; and
• Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required;
• Associates degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geology, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred;
• Whitestone will provide a company vehicle for employees to perform the duties of this position. Employees must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle in accordance with company vehicle insurance requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements;
• Ability to lift and move soil and/or concrete samples as required;
• Interest in soils, construction materials testing, and laboratory work;
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing procedures accurately;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
