MA-2: Experienced Medical Assistant 

Experience Requirement: 2–5 Years Focus: Autonomy, Advanced Clinical Skills, and Efficiency 

Key Responsibilities 

Includes all MA-1 responsibilities, plus: 

- Independently manage patient flow and rooming 

- Perform advanced procedures (EKGs, ABIs, injections, wound care) 

- Administer vaccines and medications as directed 

- Manage Athena tasks, patient cases, and in-basket messages 

- Process referrals, prior authorizations, and patient forms 

- Provide patient education and escalate clinical concerns appropriately 

- Serve as a resource to providers and clinical staff 

Mentorship 

· Acts as a preceptor for externs 

· Assists with onboarding and orientation of MA-1 staff 


Competency Level 

· Fully independent in daily duties 

· Demonstrates strong clinical judgment 

· Trusted to manage complex workflows 

Qualifications 

· Medical Assistant certification preferred 

· Strong EHR proficiency and organizational skills 

· Ability to prioritize and work independently
