Description

McIver Clinic has been a trusted provider of urological care in Jacksonville since 1921. With multiple locations throughout the greater Jacksonville area and more than 27 providers, we provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of urology.

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our team. This position supports the daily operations of our clinical laboratory by assisting with specimen handling, routine testing processes, documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Essential Job Functions

Receive, label, prepare, and process patient specimens according to established procedures.
Assist with routine urine specimen testing and processing.
Accurately document specimen information and testing information.
Follow established laboratory procedures and quality control processes.
Prepare and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory work area and equipment.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Follow established safety and infection-control procedures.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Communicate questions, discrepancies, or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or clinical staff.
Work collaboratively with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous laboratory or clinical experience required.
1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Education & Experience

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Previous laboratory or clinical experience

Preferred:

1–2 years of laboratory experience
Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology
