Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Lab Technician, you will help clinical teams and patients receive accurate and timely diagnostic results so they can achieve better health outcomes and effective treatment plans.

Every day you will process biological specimens and operate automated laboratory equipment. You will be expected to maintain high quality control standards, ensure specimen integrity, and follow strict safety protocols to support the accuracy of laboratory testing.

To be successful in this role you will possess strong technical analytical skills, demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and maintain a rigorous attention to detail while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Perform specimen collection and processing, including venipuncture and blood cultures, ensuring accurate identification and handling.
• Operate and maintain automated laboratory equipment and information systems to provide consistent and reliable test results.
• Monitor quality control and analyze pre-analytical factors to ensure all procedures meet strict regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-shift team members to ensure the continuity of patient care.
• Train new staff members, serve as a technical resource, and manage department inventory and supplies with a focus on cost-saving.
• Resolve technical problems as they arise and strictly adhere to all hospital safety, ethical, and confidentiality policies.

Job Requirements

Required

• Bachelors degree in a field relevant to clinical laboratory science which includes 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of biology or microbiology OR

• Associates degree at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) including 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) of biology or microbiology, and five years full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in OR

• HS Diploma and ten years full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology or Immunology within the last 15 years and demonstration of competency.

• Valid California Driver's License

Preferred

• Experience working with computers and automated laboratory instrumentation.
