Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Clinic Health Support Technician (HST) works under the direct supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor in Gadsden County. The incumbent provides essential health support services for clients in Primary Care, Family Planning (FP), Adult and Child Immunizations, and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) clinics. This is classified as a sensitive position. The incumbent is responsible for handling protected health information on a need‑to‑know basis in accordance with Department of Health policies, HIPAA regulations, and all Information Security and Privacy guidelines.
The HST supports the RN, APRN, and MD in monitoring and managing clinic operations. Responsibilities include assisting with triaging patients, answering and returning phone calls, and completing referral follow‑ups as needed. The incumbent assists the APRN with minor in‑house procedures. This role requires obtaining and documenting intake information, including vital signs, in verbal, written, and electronic formats for review by the RN, APRN, and MD.

The HST prepares and stocks clinical rooms for laboratory procedures and maintains room inventory by completing logs and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available. After appropriate training, the incumbent will perform blood draws as directed by licensed staff. Additional responsibilities include conducting rapid testing (HIV, RPR, Strep, Flu, RSV, etc.) and packaging specimens for delivery to laboratory sites. The position also assists with clinic inventory management by checking inventory logs and keeping rooms appropriately stocked.

The HST accurately labels, handles, and processes specimens in accordance with established clinic and laboratory protocols, and maintains a clean, organized phlebotomy area while adhering to infection‑control standards. The position also monitors and replenishes phlebotomy supplies and documents inventory needs to support smooth and efficient clinic operations.

Clerical support duties include processing records requests, scanning documents into the electronic health record (EHR), assisting with referrals and follow‑up activities, and making phone calls to clients and other healthcare providers. The incumbent attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and in‑service programs necessary to maintain current knowledge and skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in using standard medical equipment
• CPR certification
