Job Summary
The Allergy Department Associate will be primarily responsible for checking insurance eligibility and referral requirements for appointments and in-office services. As an associate you will directly assist patients, providers, and medical staff with scheduling needs and other patient-related tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Bring patients from the waiting room into exam rooms.
- Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with intake of medical history, medications, and drug allergies.
- Perform in office procedures including allergy skin testing, spirometry, immunotherapy injections, and biologic administration.
- Communicate efficiently with all staff members.
- Provide patient education.
- Obtain prior authorizations for specialty medications.
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with faxes and phone calls.
Requirements
- 1-year medical assistant experience preferred
- Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant- Required
- Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (BLS/CPR)- Required (or willingness to obtain)
Work Environment
- This position will be performed on site in a medical office setting.
Pay Range
- $18.00-23.00/hour
