Job Summary:

A Medical Assistant is a healthcare professional and an essential member of the patient-centered healthcare team. The MA is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit. The MA is responsible for maintaining basic life support certification and remaining compliant with all organization educational, licensure or certification. This role may cross-train to provide services across sites and float as needed to maintain optimal clinic operations.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

1 year of healthcare experience preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

High school diploma or GED plus one of the following: Completion of an MA program, LPN program, or EMT-Basic course OR one year of on-the-job MA training OR completion of an MA Apprenticeship program. Incumbents in an MA role as of March 28, 2025, meet job requirements under the prior description. Those who transitioned into an MA role on or before this date may move into new roles based upon previous job descriptions and MA job duties.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent within 90 days of hire.
