Medical Assistant - Part Time - Family Practice - Encinitas

This is a benefited, part-time position (48 hours every two weeks) generally working Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary as needed and no weekends or evenings are required. This position is located at Scripps Clinic Encinitas off Santa Fe Drive.  This position includes front office and back office Medical Assistant job duties (both clerical and clinical).

Your job duties:

• Both front office and back office Medical Assistant responsibilities

• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program or a minimum of two years of experience as a Military Corpsman or Medical Assistant Certification 
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year of previous MA experience working in Family Practice
• At least one year of previous MA experience working in Primary Care
• MA front office experience
• MA back office experience
