How you'll make an impact in this role
- Collect and process blood specimens for testing and performs multiple clerical and processing functions.
- Set up instruments. Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety,cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
- Receive, centrifuge, accession, process, and transport specimens. Verify all related records. May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
- Order add-on tests, work pending lists, and resolve duplicate orders.
What minimum qualifications you'll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Preferred Credential(s):
- BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
- Phlebotomy Tech.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
- Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. All issuing authorities accepted.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
