Job Summary
Are you a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant who enjoys meaningful patient interaction and being part of a collaborative specialty care team? Join our Physiatry practice and play an important role in helping patients feel supported, informed, and cared for throughout their visit. In this hands-on, patient-facing role, you will partner closely with providers, nursing staff, and other team members to support smooth clinical flow, deliver excellent service, and contribute to high-quality care.Why This Role Stands Out
As a Medical Assistant in Physiatry, you will support a specialty team focused on helping patients improve function, mobility, and quality of life. You will be involved in both clinical and administrative responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to use a broad range of skills while helping the practice run efficiently.
What You’ll Do
• Room patients, prepare examination rooms, and support patient flow throughout the visit.
• Interview patients, obtain medical information, measure vital signs, height, and weight, and accurately document information in the medical record.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for healthcare providers and assist with visit needs.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and provider instructions using clear, supportive communication.
• Partner with physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and other departments to help deliver coordinated care.
• Perform general office duties, including phone support, forms, documentation, and patient advocacy.
• Collect, log, and prepare blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens for testing; perform phlebotomy when competency is demonstrated.
• Maintain immunization inventory, monitor expiration dates, and administer immunizations as applicable.
• Support junior Medical Assistants by answering day-to-day questions and participating in onboarding and training.
• Contribute to departmental quality initiatives, including two patient identifiers and hand hygiene practices.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
- 1–2 years of direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field experience required.
- Basic Life Support certification preferred.
- National Certified Medical Assistant credential preferred.
- Ability to take vital signs, obtain manual blood pressure, and collect blood samples or other specimens.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Comfort using electronic health record systems and medical office software.
- Strong interpersonal communication, accuracy, attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment while maintaining a positive, patient-centered approach.
- Commitment to privacy, confidentiality, quality, and patient safety standards.
