About the Role:

The Medical Assistant Registered at SE Bone & Joint Clinic plays a critical role in supporting orthopedic healthcare providers by delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance. This position ensures efficient patient flow and contributes to excellent patient care by preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, and managing medical records accurately. The role requires close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate diagnostic tests and treatments specific to bone and joint health. The Medical Assistant Registered is also responsible for educating patients on treatment plans and post-care instructions, enhancing patient understanding and compliance. Ultimately, this position is vital in maintaining the clinic’s standards of care and operational efficiency, directly impacting patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, preferably in orthopedics or related specialty.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an orthopedic or bone and joint clinic environment.
• Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician.
• Familiarity with orthopedic terminology, procedures, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Strong customer service skills and experience in patient education.
• Ability to speak a second language relevant to the patient population served.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for orthopedic examinations and procedures by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting symptoms.
• Assist physicians during clinical procedures, including casting, splinting, and administering injections as directed.
• Manage patient records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals to specialists or diagnostic services.
• Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, medication instructions, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support coordinated care.
