Job DetailsJob Location: Columbia - Columbia, MO 65201The Dermatology Medical Assistant specializes in treating patients of all ages in the management of skin care and supporting the clinic to provide compassionate service and all-around excellence.  This is a safety and/or security-sensitive position.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS Provide case management services including assessment of the needs of the client/family, development of a plan of care, referral to services, monitoring, and follow-up. Assist Providers with pre/post-operative care. Assist Providers in performing cosmetic dermatology procedures. Perform procedures to treat acne and other skin conditions.  Evaluate, monitor, and treat skin wounds. Recognize and respond to changes in a patient's status and need for care. Educate patients about skincare routines and any potential side effects of medications or treatments. Ensure appropriate patient consent and authorizations are obtained for treatment. Assist in performing physical assessments and skin exams. Organize and prepare exam rooms, labs, and work areas. Meets with patients to obtain vital signs and update pertinent health information (chief complaint, medications, etc.). Maintain an inventory of medications required for use. Respond to email and phone messages by the end of each day.  Complete routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate techniques when cleaning, sterilizing, and caring for equipment and instruments. Complete necessary documentation and maintain and update patient medical files with accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness. Maintain an awareness and understanding of the various drugs and schedules of drug administration. Attend continuing education meetings and read professional articles to remain current in the knowledge base. Maintain an awareness and understanding of communicable diseases and control methods. Maintain an awareness and understanding of the educational program requirements. Acquire and maintain continuing education requirements of the State to maintain a license. Read and interpret a variety of medical information to ensure accuracy and thoroughness. Assist with Emergency Response duties, as assigned. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.  Ability to effectively present information to others. Ability to travel to other CMD offices and attend training outside of the region as required. Ability to work well with people of diverse socioeconomic/cultural backgrounds and demonstrate a consistent professional demeanor. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and demonstrate adaptability in a rapidly changing environment. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Quality Orientation - Accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time.   EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Current on all state licensure requirements. Dermatology Medical Assistant Certification is helpful. CPR Certification required.
