Medical Assistant (Saratoga Springs, NY)

Our Medical Assistants must have excellent healthcare knowledge, communication skills, professionalism, as well as the ability to multitask and learn quickly. Under the direct supervision of the healthcare provider, they will maintain efficient patient flow, assist with patient care, maintain the provider’s schedule, and perform other patient care-related tasks as assigned.

Experience in Medical Assisting and the use of Modernizing Medicine or a similar EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Escorts patients from the waiting room to the provider’s treatment room as appropriate.

• Obtains and records patient information prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to allergies, medication changes, and chief complaints.

• Assures appropriate consent has been obtained before treatment or procedures.

• Conducts patient assessments and obtains pertinent medical information for referral to the provider.

• Directs patients from the exam room or provider’s office to the next appropriate station.

• Orders supplies as needed, and maintains and controls drug samples.

• Assists providers with exams and procedures as requested.

• Record biopsies and cultures for accuracy.

• Maintains a clean work environment, disinfects exam rooms, and stocks supplies as needed.

• Triages incoming patient telephone calls for referral to the provider.

• Ensure prescriptions are electronically released daily to the pharmacy as instructed by providers.

• Schedules patient tests and procedures and provides follow-up for receipt of test results.

• Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.

• Follows up on patient reschedules and no-shows with providers.

• Checks Hudson Dermatology e-mail periodically throughout the day for staffing and procedure updates and notices.

• Commits to staffing two different Hudson Dermatology locations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical practice and diligence in assisting with patient care.

• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.

• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments needed to administer patient care.

• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

• Ability to assist with a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay and Benefits:

Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour, Commensurate with Experience

Expected hours: 42.5 per week
