Medical Assistant Supervisor

Location: West Salem Clinic | 1233 Edgewater St NW, Salem, OR
Schedule: Full Time | Monday–Friday
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Nursing Supervisor

As a Medical Assistant Supervisor at NWHS, your will provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Medical Assistant team, helping ensure efficient clinic operations, excellent patient service, and quality healthcare delivery.

You will work closely with the Nursing Supervisor and interdisciplinary care team to support staffing, patient flow, staff development, and compliance with NWHS policies and healthcare standards.

What You'll Do

As the Medical Assistant Supervisor, you will provide day-to-day leadership, oversight, and support to Medical Assistant staff. You will provide:

Leadership & Team Development

• Supervise, coach, mentor, and support Medical Assistant staff, including scheduling, orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a primary resource for Medical Assistants and provide guidance on clinical workflows and procedures.

Clinic Operations & Patient Care

• Coordinate daily staffing assignments based on patient needs, clinic volume, and staff qualifications.
• Monitor patient flow and support efficient clinic operations, access standards, and patient satisfaction.
• Participate in daily huddles and maintain effective communication among providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams.
• Perform certified Medical Assistant duties and assist with patient concerns and incident follow-up.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Support compliance with HRSA, Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, and NWHS policies and procedures.
• Monitor point-of-care testing, autoclave procedures, room audits, supplies, and medication expiration dates.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance measures to promote high-quality patient care.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program, including pharmacology and medication administration coursework.
• Three years of experience in a medical clinic setting.
• Medical Assistant certification (RMA, CMA, NCMOA, or NCMA), required within 180 days of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours and effectively serve diverse communities.
