The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the vital first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is responsible for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records to facilitate smooth clinical operations. The Medical Receptionist 1 coordinates communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, contributing to efficient patient flow and high-quality care delivery. We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist at Upstate Gastroenterology in Troy, NY. 

Responsibilities:

• Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.
• Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.
• Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to manage patient flow and appointment availability.
• Prepare and organize patient paperwork and documentation for healthcare providers.
• Assist with billing and insurance claim processes as needed.
• Manage waiting area to ensure a comfortable and organized environment for patients.

The required skills enable the Medical Receptionist 1 to efficiently manage patient interactions and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth daily operations. Proficiency with EHR systems and office software allows for accurate scheduling, record-keeping, and communication with healthcare providers. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
• Experience with specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
• Customer service training or experience in a healthcare setting.
