The Patient Service Representative is responsible for greeting and registering patients when they enter the practice. They play a pivotal role in a positive patient experience, as they are the first person a patient will come in contact with when scheduling an appointment or arriving to the office. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for all front desk operations, which include, but are not limited to:

• Scheduling patients
• Answering phones
• Scanning medical records
• Triage patient phone calls for severity/importance
• Collection of insurance information and verification or benefits
• Charge entry and payment posting.

The Patient Service Represenative is responsible for providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients while supporting the daily operations of our OBGYN office. This position manages patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, phone calls, registration, insurance information, payments, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position is primarly in our Canton office location, but will need the flexibility to work at the Mead location as needed. 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Education and Work Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Required: 1-2 Years experience in healthcare setting
• Preferred: 3-5 years experience in related field or specialty practice

• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
• Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
• Microsoft Outlook
• Meditech (if applicable to position)
• Epic (if applicable to position)
• Performance Manager/NetLearning
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

• Other Requirements:
• Computer skills, customer service, organization, paying attention to detail, accurate in data entry, ability to work as a team member, answer multiple phone lines (multi task with a pleasant manner), and get along with other co-workers.
• Certificate of completion of medical terminology course preferred or proven expertise in medical terminology.
• Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm, with 55 wpm preferred.
• Must be able to travel to other locations as directed by management.
