Medical Receptionist

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for managing the front office operations of the dermatology practice. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. The receptionist performs a variety of administrative tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and processing payments. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical setting.

Job Description

•  Checking in and checking out patients
•  Answer incoming calls, route clinical questions to staff, and relay messages promptly.
•  Schedule dermatology visits and procedures accurately across provider calendars.
•  Maintain patient demographics, referrals, forms, and medical records in the EMR/PM system.
• Verify insurance eligibility and referral requirements before visits; escalate authorization needs.
• Collect copays and balances, issue receipts, and reconcile front desk transactions.
• Coordinate with clinical staff on patient flow, late arrivals, and schedule changes.
• Protect patient information and follow office privacy and documentation procedures.

Qualifications

•  At least one year of medical front desk experience in a multi-provider practice.
•  Working knowledge of EMR/PM systems, appointment scheduling, and insurance eligibility.
•  Clear, courteous communication with patients, providers, and coworkers.
•  Accurate data entry, cash handling, and attention to detail in a busy office.
•  Ability to manage competing priorities and protect confidential patient information.

Additional Information

Job Type:

• Full-time

• Hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm and one Friday morning per month.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year Medical office experience in a multi-provider practice

Education:

• High School Diploma
