MRI Technologists utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI Technologists must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, or computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
Positions imaging equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination.
Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan.
Keys commands and data into computer to document and specify scan sequences, adjust transmitters and receivers, or photograph certain images.
Operates or oversees operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table.
Records, processes and maintains patient data and treatment records, and prepare QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree or bachelor's degree program related to the radiology field and is registered with the ARRT with an MRI certification.
