MRI Technologist

Full-time | On-site | Brookings, OR | Shift Schedule: Weekends, Day shift, 3x12

Compensation Range:

• $44.89 - $67.90

Compensation is based on experience, with a range reflecting entry-level candidates through those with 15+ years of experience. Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation with applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.

Additional Compensation Differential Opportunities: 

• Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hour.
• Non-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hour.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the MRI Technologist is responsible for performing prescribed MRI scans and/or radiologic procedures for diagnostic purposes. Assures quality patient care while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and compliance with all state, federal, and local regulatory requirements. The MRI Technologist is technically and clinically competent in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Radiologic Technology for all ages served and ensures that age- and culturally appropriate care is given. Works effectively as a team with the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, Lead Imaging Technologists, Imaging staff, and personnel from other departments to collaboratively provide the best customer experience possible. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs prescribed diagnostic MRI examinations according to established operating practices and Radiologist protocols without constant supervision.

Collaborates with all customers to complete MRI examinations in an efficient manner.

Screens all patients, staff, visitors, and other individuals entering the MRI environment for contraindications, implants, devices, foreign bodies, and other potential hazards; verifies required MRI safety documentation and follows established zone-access and safety protocols before permitting entry.

Able to recognize emergent patient situations, including MRI-related safety events, and respond appropriately.

Maintains regulatory requirements, including all local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting organization standards related to the Imaging department and, as appropriate, to each facility.

Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety, compliance, and satisfaction, including adherence to MRI safety policies and practices.

Monitors MRI supplies and equipment to utilize resources efficiently. Effectively communicates with Imaging staff, patients, and all customers to promote quality patient care and safety.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

 Education & Experience 

• Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology required.  

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in diagnostic radiology and MRI preferred.  

• Current Registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) 

• MRI Certification is required 

• OBMI State of Oregon Radiography MRI license required.  

• Current AHA BLS required.

• Must complete Nanosonics Trophon Operator Certification prior to independently operating the Trophon system and maintain annual recertification thereafter.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

• Advanced workstation computer skills including MS Office applications, PACS, EHR. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

• Advanced computer skills related to the operation of high technology and computer driven equipment is essential.  

• Requires critical thinking skills and must possess a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
