Classification Title:
OPS Lab Technician
Classification Minimum Requirements:High school diploma, bachelor's in science, or equivalent
Job Description:- Perform routine laboratory and animal care support functions in accordance with established protocols
- Handle, feed, monitor, and assist with anesthetizing laboratory animals (primarily rodents)
- Assist with behavioral outcome measures and data collection
- Collect, prepare, and process biological samples, tissues, and physiological fluids
- Prepare solutions and reagents and assist with histology and immunohistochemistry procedures
- Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment
- Follow written and verbal instructions to conduct assigned tasks
- Maintain accurate records, tabulate data, and enter information into electronic systems
- Assist with ordering supplies and general laboratory organization
- Support regulatory compliance activities, including IACUC documentation and laboratory safety requirements
$15 - $20 hourly, commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications:High school diploma, bachelor's in science or equivalent
- Knowledge of basic laboratory and animal handling procedures and the ability to learn
- Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures
- Attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use computers for data entry and basic administrative tasks
Experience working with laboratory animals and/or in a research laboratory setting
