Downriver Medical Associates is looking for a full time Phlebotomist!

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws accurately and safely according to established clinical procedures.
• Collect, label, process, and prepare blood and other specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Administer injections as directed by physicians or other authorized clinical providers and in accordance with established protocols.
• Verify patient identity and ensure appropriate orders are documented prior to performing clinical procedures.
• Prepare patients for blood draws, injections, and other clinical services while providing clear instructions and maintaining patient comfort.
• Properly document blood draws, injections, specimens, and other clinical services in EPIC EMR.
• Review and follow laboratory orders and ensure specimens are properly labeled and handled for timely processing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Monitor patients during and after blood draws or injections and promptly report adverse reactions, complications, or concerns to the appropriate clinical staff.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked phlebotomy and clinical areas.
• Follow infection prevention, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, sharps safety, and other applicable safety standards.
• Properly dispose of needles, sharps, biohazard materials, and other clinical waste.
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance according to office procedures.
• Assist clinical staff with additional patient-care and medical office duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent communication when interacting with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Current Phlebotomist Certification from a recognized certifying organization.
• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical, physician office, laboratory, or healthcare setting.
• Previous experience performing venipuncture and blood draws.
• Experience administering injections in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of specimen collection, handling, labeling, and processing procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control and bloodborne pathogen safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document clinical information.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Ability to always maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.

• Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit at a workstation and use a computer and other office equipment as needed.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to perform blood draws, injections, operating equipment, and complete documentation.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and move throughout the clinical environment.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely assist patients as needed and respond promptly to patient-care situations.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with phlebotomy, injections, computer use, and other clinical duties.
• Visual and auditory ability sufficient to perform blood draws, injections, accurately read labels and medical information, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
