General Summary
Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients.
Works under the supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Asks and records pertinent information (such as hours patient has been fasting) or for drug levels records the time of the patient's last dosage.
- Obtains the proper specimen for test(s) ordered.
- Properly labels all specimens.
- Properly instructs patients on specimen collection.
- Must be able to Register Patients.
- Must be able to scan ABN, Billing and HIPPA documentation.
- Knows, understands and adheres to HIPPA policies.
- Knows, understands and adheres to all laboratory, Clinic and/or OSHA safety standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Drive to Satellite locations and be available for any other drawing opportunity.
- Must know all aspects of each satellite location, what needs to accomplished and know it needs to be completed.
Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To
- Correctly processes specimens which will include use of centrifuge and make sure STAT specimens are processed correctly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Required:
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
- Completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
- One to two years of phlebotomist experience.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Flexibility and ability to adjust to a constantly changing work environment.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and prioritize accordingly.
- Will be required to travel to various locations.
Education:
- Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school.
Preferred:
- Certification.
