Schedule: Ebensburg Outpatient Center location | PRN (as needed), with a minimum commitment of one shift per month. Daylight shifts available. Saturdays may be required; no holiday shifts.

Team members work collaboratively as part of a 3-5 person staff each day to provide outpatient laboratory and EKG services to patients ages 2 and older.
How you’ll contribute
A Phlebotomist, PRN who excels in this role:
- Must work closely with all laboratory staff regarding collection, receipt and processing of specimens in the inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations.
- Courteous and professional interaction with our patients, physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel using our CARING values.
- Responsible for the proper collection of specimens in a manner consistent with Laboratory procedures, safe practices and patient comfort.
- Follows all hospital guidelines regarding Standard Precautions (ex. PPE, gloving, hand washing, etc.).
- Must identify patients using two patient identifiers and label specimens accurately.
- Selects the appropriate specimen collection supplies/devices (ex. tubes, proper additives, etc. in order to perform venipuncture, arterial puncture, and capillary puncture according to the Laboratory’s Phlebotomy/Specimen Collection procedure manual.
- Accurately interprets inpatient orders and properly uses electronic collection devices and printers. For the outpatient setting, proper interpretation of physician orders.
- Competency in the use of the Hospital/Laboratory information system.
- Adequate inventory of necessary Phlebotomy supplies.
- Maintenance and cleaning of baskets/carts and draw areas.
- Removal of any worn or malfunctioning equipment from service, and notification of the manager/LIS staff of LIS or equipment issues.
- Proper training of phlebotomists, staff, and students in the techniques of computer entry, venipuncture, arterial puncture, and capillary puncture is required.
- Perform limited Customer Service tasks within the scope of training and experience.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient/employee information.
- Provide appropriate care to patients of all ages (neonates to geriatrics).
- Travel to other locations for collection of specimens.
