POSITION SUMMARY:
Phlebotomy Instructor is responsible for developing and continually improving a comprehensive training program, including instructional and assessment materials, competencies, procedures, and learning resources in both manual and electronic formats. The training program will cover clinical phlebotomy techniques and classroom education to prepare new and existing team members for clinical phlebotomy, other lab specimen collections, and EKG procedures as necessary.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist.
- Completion of a formal, structured phlebotomy program.
Licensure & Certification
- Must obtain Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) certification within one year of hire.
- Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within six months of hire.
Other Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
An Associate's degree or certification in one of the following, or another closely related discipline, may be considered with one year of phlebotomy experience:
- EKG Technician
- Medical Office Assistant (MOA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Patient Care Technician/Patient Care Liaison (PCT/PCL)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Healthcare Studies
- Nursing
- ASCP certification with other relevant experience
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience performing phlebotomy in a hospital or large clinical setting.
- Phlebotomy experience across varied service lines, such as:
- Inpatient
- Nursing home
- Ambulatory
- Other healthcare settings
