We are seeking a dependable, flexible, and patient-focused PRN float clinical support specialist to provide front-office and clinical support coverage across multiple clinic locations as staffing needs arise.
This position will perform both Medical Assistant and Patient Care Coordinator (Front Desk) duties depending on clinic needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in both administrative and clinical settings and can quickly adapt to varying workflows, providers, and locations.
Travel Requirement:
This is a multi-site float position. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to CPIhealth clinics in Bloomington, Columbus, and Greenwood, Indiana, as needed to provide medical assistant and front desk coverage.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care Coordinator / Front Desk
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Schedule appointments and maintain provider schedules.
- Verify insurance eligibility and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments.
- Review, maintain, and update patient records in the electronic health record.
- Scan and upload documentation into patient charts.
- Communicate appointment delays and patient arrivals to providers and clinical staff.
- Maintain reception and waiting areas.
- Assist patients with questions regarding office policies and procedures.
- Support daily administrative and office operations, including inventory management and mail distribution.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient, medical, and financial information.
Medical Assistant
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, medication history, allergies, pain assessments, and chief complaint information.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers during patient visits and procedures.
- Document patient encounters and clinical information in the electronic medical record.
- Perform specimen collection, venipuncture, and point-of-care testing within scope of practice.
- Prepare medications and injections as directed by providers.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and provider orders.
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions.
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
- Perform chart reviews to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.
- Serve as a medical scribe when requested.
Float Coverage Responsibilities
- Travel to CPIhealth clinic locations in Bloomington, Columbus, and Greenwood as assigned.
- Provide front-office or clinical support based on staffing and operational needs.
- Adapt to changing schedules, providers, and clinic environments.
- Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams across all locations.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification from an accredited certification agency.
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain certification within three months of hire.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between Bloomington, Columbus, and Greenwood clinic locations.
- Ability to perform both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Working knowledge of computers and electronic medical record systems.
Preferred
- Previous Medical Assistant experience.
- Previous medical front desk, registration, scheduling, or patient access experience.
- Experience with NextGen, eClinicalWorks (ECW), or other electronic medical record systems.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes.
- Experience in pain management, orthopedics, sports medicine, or other specialty care settings.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, speaking, and computer use.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with assistance if needed.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to assist patients with mobility needs when required.
- Exposure to bodily fluids and other clinical hazards consistent with healthcare settings.
Schedule: PRN
Pay Rate: $15.55 - 19.44 per hour, depending on experience
Location: Travel required between clinics on Northpark Dr in Columbus, 47203, S Landmark Ave in Bloomington, 47403, and E County Ln Rd in Greenwood, 46143.
