Provider Assistant - Medical Assistant

This position is responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinic setting. Under the supervision of an RN or physician/provider, this position performs documentation of medical record information, administration of medications and treatments as well as obtaining medical histories and vital signs. While it is not required, Medical Assistants are encouraged to obtain and maintain their Medical Assistant Certification.  All programs and activities are designed to support the short and long term mission, goals and objectives of the Stillwater Medical Group. 

Required Qualifications

• Requires the completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT license
• Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained.  On line BLS certification is not acceptable.
• OSHA Training  
• One year medical assistant experience and/or Licensed practical nurse in a clinic preferred 

Skills:   

• Excellent verbal and written skills 
• Excellent customer service skills; tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients/ families/clinic staff members. Demonstrate compassion and caring in all interactions. 
• Understanding of patient education needs, able to effectively share information with patients, family members and clinic staff as needed. 
• Ability to learn, retain information regarding patient care procedures. 
• Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks. 
• Remain calm in stressful situations. 
• Experience with electronic medical record system preferred (Epic). 

Computer Proficiency: 

• Basic computers skills 
• Ability to learn Epic electronic medical records system
