Research Lab Assistant - Biology

Salary/Position Classification

• $17.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
• 6-10 hours per week
• 100% Remote Work Availability: No
• Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Extraction of nucleic acid from tissues of invertebrates, PCR, DNA sequencing, microscopy, possibly preparation of scientific illustrations. 

Required Competencies

• Basic background in biology (at least Introductory Biology classes)
• detail-oriented, motivated to learn new research skills
• ability to work independently upon initial training.

Minimum Requirements

• Major in Biology
• Availability to work 8-10 hours/week
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DNA work/PCR is preferable but not required.
• Art skills are a plus, to prepare scientific illustrations.
