About the Role:
Cross County Medical Care is looking for a friendly and organized Front Desk Medical Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our practice in Elmont, NY. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients in a warm, professional manner at the front desk
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect co-pays at time of service
- Maintain and update accurate patient records and demographic information in the EMR system
- Answer and route incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries promptly
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and communication between patients and clinical staff
- Ensure front desk area is organized, stocked, and HIPAA-compliant at all times
Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience in a medical front desk or healthcare administrative role preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical scheduling software
- Knowledge of medical insurance verification and co-pay collection processes
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a patient-first attitude
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus
