Position Summary

Work in a team-oriented manufacturing laboratory setting using mammalian cell culture practices and techniques. Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP. Understand and follow safety policies as it relates to biological and chemical components and equipment to protect personnel and maintain product quality.

Hours: 1st Shift 7:15am - 3:45pm. Overtime, weekend, and holidays may be required.

Position Responsibilities

Perform processes and operate equipment required for production of bulk viral antigen.

Understand and apply aseptic technique with good cell culture practices as it relates to viral and antibody production within a roller bottle lab. Operate equipment involved in downstream processing of production bulk fluids (e.g., tangential flow filtration, hollow-fiber filtration, sterile filtration, etc.). Using knowledge of bioreactors/fermentors and support equipment, apply skills to identify mechanical problems and maintain equipment. Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP. Understand and follow safety policies as it relates to biological and chemical components and equipment to protect personnel and maintain product quality.

Level of the job will be determined by the successful candidate.

Education and Experience

High school degree or equivalent required. BS in Biological sciences preferred. Preference given to applicants with relevant experience in biological production and/or aseptic manufacturing.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Mammalian cell culture practices and techniques are desirable. Good communication and interpersonal skills, computer skills, and working knowledge of metric system. Fundamental understanding of cell growth and general lab practices is desirable.

Physical Position Requirements

Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, live steam, temperature fluctuations, biohazards, continuous standing and lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs. Changes in shift start times by 1-2 hours production dependent. Weekend and Holiday work are scheduled. Secondary Gowning is a requirement for work in the aseptic laboratories.
