Raleigh Medical Group, PA is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Family Dermatology clinical team in Raleigh. No previous Medical Assistant experience is required. This role supports providers and patients throughout routine dermatology visits, examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures while helping the clinic run efficiently.
The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a busy, patient-centered clinical environment.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and room patients for examinations and dermatology visits.
• Obtain and document patient medical histories, medication information, allergies, and vital signs.
• Assist providers during examinations and in-office dermatology procedures.
• Assist with skin biopsies, lesion removals, cryotherapy, and other in-office procedures as directed.
• Provide basic wound care and apply dressings or bandages as directed.
• Administer medications or injections as directed by the physician and within scope of practice.
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory and pathology specimens.
• Assist with specimen tracking and coordination with laboratory and pathology services.
• Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Ensure exam and procedure rooms are clean, fully stocked, and prepared for patient care.
• Document patient care, procedures, treatments, and results accurately in the EMR.
• Assist with prescription refills, prior authorizations, referrals, scheduling, and patient follow-up as directed.
• Provide patients with clear instructions regarding medications, wound care, treatment plans, and pre- and post-procedure care as directed by the provider.
• Respond to non-emergent patient questions under provider guidance.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, infection-control, HIPAA, confidentiality, and safety standards.
• Support a positive, professional, and patient-centered experience throughout the visit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• High School Diploma or GED.
• No previous Medical Assistant experience required.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn dermatology procedures, medical terminology, and medical office workflows.
Preferred:
• Previous medical office or patient-service experience.
• Previous dermatology experience.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Previous experience assisting with in-office procedures.
