As a Medical Assistant at knownwell, you will play a key role in delivering patient-centered care and supporting our clinical team. You’ll be responsible for assisting with procedures, managing clinic flow, and ensuring patient records are up to date, all while ensuring our patient experience is welcoming and high-quality. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, growing team and meaningfully contribute to the longitudinal care journey of our obesity management and primary care patients.

Schedule: This role requires availability for a rotating weekday shift based on business needs, scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM local time.

Location: Schaumburg, IL

Travel: While the clinic above will be your primary location, this position may occasionally require commuting to one of our other sites in the metro Chicago area (Westmont, Lincoln Park) based on staffing needs.

Responsibilities:

• Patient reception: Greet patients and other visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, verify patient details, and collect patient payments.

• Clinical tasks: Take vitals, gather patient histories, and assist with clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, body composition scans, and phlebotomy).

• Clinic flow: Support smooth transitions between check-in, exam rooms, and check-out.

• Patient follow-up and care coordination: Update patient records, support external order submission, coordinate with external facilities, and review test results with clinicians.

• Patient communication: Triage and respond to inbox messages to ensure patients receive appropriate support between visits. Support patient scheduling, outreach, and other engagement efforts as needed.

• Exam room maintenance: Ensure supplies are stocked and rooms are ready for patient care.

• Virtual care support: Provide support for clinicians on virtual patient care days as part of our hybrid care model as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred.

• 1-2 years of healthcare experience; experience in primary care, specialty care, metabolic health, or weight management preferred.

• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with athenahealth preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; works effectively and collaboratively with patients, clinicians, and teammates.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Passion for high-quality, evidence-based patient care and outstanding patient experience.
