The Toledo Clinic's Gastroenterology Department, located at 4235 Secor Rd in Toledo, is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to provide front office clerical support and, when needed, assist with rooming patients. The hours are Monday-Thursday (8:00-5:00) and Friday (8:00-3:00). Previous experience in a medical office is strongly preferred.
General Summary
Performs various clerical duties to support the operation of the office. Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
- Scheduling appointments, lab tests, surgeries, etc.
- Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
- Updating insurance information.
- Answering general patient questions.
- Taking messages accurately and relaying to appropriate personnel.
- Escorting patients to exam room
- Adheres to all Clinic policies and procedures.
Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To
- Collecting co-pays.
- Preparing and/or submitting charge tickets.
- Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
- Sorting and filing patient charts.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required:

- Completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Excellent communication, phone, and organizational skills required.
- Computer skills helpful.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to all Clinic policies and procedures.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
Preferred:
- Previous clerical experience in a medical office.
