MRI Technician

About the Role:

Orthopedic Center of Illinois is in search of an MRI Technician to join our Team!

As an MRI Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnostic process by operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce detailed images of patients' internal structures. Your expertise will ensure high-quality imaging while prioritizing patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure. You will collaborate closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to accurately capture the necessary images for diagnosis and treatment planning. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage sensitive patient information with confidentiality. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of various medical conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program or equivalent education.
• Certification as a Registered MRI Technologist (e.g., ARRT certification) or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MRI safety protocols and patient care standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting performing MRI procedures.
• Advanced certifications related to MRI technology or specialized imaging techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to MRI imaging.
• Additional training in patient management and emergency response.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and position patients appropriately for MRI scans, explaining procedures to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation.
• Operate MRI scanners to capture high-quality diagnostic images according to prescribed protocols and physician instructions.
• Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure safety and comfort, responding promptly to any adverse reactions or emergencies.
• Maintain and calibrate MRI equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Review images for clarity and completeness, collaborating with radiologists to determine if additional imaging is necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy laws.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines to protect patients, staff, and equipment.
