Full job details
Performs ultrasound to assist physician in guidance of amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling procedures. Performs ultrasound to demonstrate anatomy in fetuses of pregnant women. Participates in improvement activities in department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance. This position is for the Fetal Treatment Center, Oakland facility.
Position is expected to work 10 hour shifts at least 4 days per month. Must be available in the short term on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with more days determined by future expansion.
Responsibilities
1) Perform sonography to guide chorionic villus sampling for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
2) Perform sonography to guide amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
3) Perform sonography to determine normality of first and second trimester pregnancies.
4) Provide after care instructions to patients undergoing prenatal diagnosis procedures.
5) Demonstrates knowledge and ability to produce quality images following established departmental protocols to include technique, views, positioning, proper labeling and patient ID.
6) Properly prepares room and equipment prior to imaging and after completion of the exam.
7) Properly troubleshoots equipment failures, documents and reports to appropriate individual.
8) Prepares patient for imaging. Identifies self, explains the procedure and confirms patient ID and the order for testing.
Qualifications
REQUIRED Qualifications:
At least 5 years experience in a high risk obstetric ultrasound service
Demonstrate ability to work with pregnant patients, and understand their various concerns regarding their age, genetic background and procedure risks.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Require RDMS in OB/GYN
NT certification through FMF or NTQR.
Preferred qualification:
Experience with high risk OB sonography, including early first trimester ultrasound and nuchal translucency ultrasounds.
