Sonographer - Maternal Fetal Clinic

Reporting to the Practice Manager of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic with clinical oversight by the Director of Imaging Service, the Sonographer competently performs a variety of standard, specialty and complex obstetric diagnostic sonographic examinations and procedures with little or no supervision; producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Demonstrates independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for prenatal diagnosis. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Accurately receives instructions verbally, written and electronic, and ensures they are carried out as directed. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by or at the request of the Perinatologist. Maintains and respects patient's confidentiality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance and delivery of service excellence while maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical and professional code of ethics. Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.    

Qualifications

Minimum Education:        

• Graduate of a formal program in Ultrasonography that meets the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) qualifications or trained through a Radiology Technician program.
• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program; Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS, OB/GYN specialty required); Minimum 1 year of obstetric ultrasound experience (MFM preferred); Proficient in anatomy scans, growth ultrasounds, BPPs, and Doppler studies; Strong knowledge of fetal anatomy and high-risk pregnancy conditions; Excellent patient care, communication, and time management skills, adaptability Preferred qualifications: Fetal echocardiography certification; familiarity with GE Viewpoint or AS Justification

Minimum Experience/Skills:        

• 2+ years experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is required. High Risk OB, Fetal Echocardiography and/or Vascular experience is preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.                
                          

License/Certificates/Credentials:        

Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS); Must be registered by ARDMS with a certification in OB/GYN within 60 days of start date.
