Responsibilities
- Assist with the nursing care of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of the department and hospital practice and policies.
- Responsible for the preparation and disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation – pre, intra-, and postoperatively.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of asepsis.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the standards of AORN guidelines.
- Assumes responsibility for clinical competence and professional development.
- Participates in the responsible management of all departmental resources.
- Takes call as required by the department.
- Maintains competencies in the main OR as well as the CVOR.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Graduated from an accredited Surgical Tech program or a Certified Surgical Technologist
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
