The Radiologic Technologist operates radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographic images according to various physician protocols and performs epidural procedures. In addition to the routine tasks, a Radiologic Technologist assumes responsibilities of designated area(s) and assists other departments when available.
Key Accountabilities:
Completion of requested x-rays in a timely manner that are of high-quality.
Essential Duties:
Greets and escorts patient to the appropriate room.
Obtains the patient's history to ensure proper scheduling.
Asks female patients of childbearing age the date of their last menstrual period and ensures that there is no possibility of pregnancy.
Prepares the patient for procedures by explaining the exam and answers his/her questions as best as possible.
Maintains patient comfort and safety while removing obscuring objects from the area of interest.
Provides radiation protection (shielding / collimation) for the patient, self, and others in accordance with prescribed safety standards of ALARA (including wearing his/her film badge).
Selects proper technical factors according to the size of the individual patient and produces/develops quality radiographs while using appropriate lead markers.
Critiques radiographs (density/detail/contrast/positioning/markers/anatomy visible), makes technical adjustments and performs repeats as necessary.
Along with the pain management team, assists during fluoroscopic procedures (i.e.: epidural steroid injections, hip aspirations).
Reports equipment problems to department supervisor, office manager, and vendor.
Participates in training of new employees.
Maintains safe radiologic practice per standards adapted and implemented by x-ray quality assurance policies.
Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Must have active, valid registration and continued certification through the ARRT
Candidates applying to a position based in NJ must have active, valid NJ radiology licensure
Knowledge of x-ray procedures and epidural procedures required
Ability to operate all equipment and machinery, including processors and computer systems, required

Office Hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
Total Hours per Week:
24 (will work 3 days of 8-hr shifts)
Pay Range:
$27.50/hr - $41.00/hr
