Medical Assistant Lead

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Assistant Lead at Shore Gastroenterology in Oakhurst, NJ. 

About the Role:

The Medical Assistant Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services within a healthcare setting by overseeing and supporting the medical assistant team. This position is responsible for coordinating daily activities, facilitating communication between clinical staff and management, and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. The lead will serve as a mentor and resource for medical assistants, providing guidance on clinical procedures, administrative tasks, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize patient flow and enhance the overall patient experience. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant Lead contributes to the delivery of efficient, compassionate, and quality healthcare services that meet organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support the daily activities of the medical assistant team to ensure efficient clinical operations.
• Coordinate patient scheduling, rooming, and preparation to facilitate smooth patient flow and minimize wait times.
• Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering medications as directed.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and organizational policies.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to medical assistants to promote professional development and high-quality patient care.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
• Serve as a liaison between medical assistants, clinical staff, and management to address operational challenges and improve processes.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Skills:

The Medical Assistant Lead utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills daily to coordinate team activities and ensure clinical efficiency. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and staff, facilitating clear and compassionate exchanges. Proficiency in electronic health record systems enables accurate documentation and management of patient information, which is critical for continuity of care. Problem-solving skills are applied to address workflow challenges and implement process improvements that enhance patient experience and operational effectiveness. Additionally, clinical skills such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and understanding medical terminology are regularly employed to support healthcare providers and maintain high standards of patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a healthcare environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Health Sciences or related field.
• Experience in a leadership role within a multi-provider medical practice or healthcare facility.
